Hot Wheels Elite - Very Impressive

Mattel Hot Wheels, the exclusive manufacturer of Ferrari diecast images, has been releasing Ferrari diecast to delighted collectors across the world. Many of those cars are now very collectible, but collectors have called for a higher end product with more detail. Hot Wheels listened and has announced their Elite Edition line. The F40 was selected as the first to be produced in the line and is well worth waiting for. Each car is serially numbered as a Limited Edition on the bottom of the base.

The engine has enough detail to satisfy most Ferrari collectors for this price range, a significant improvement. Same for the front end. All the clear plastic is thinner and more scale correct. The interior sports fuzzy/fabric seats and amazingly realistic seat belts. There are authentic door hinges, no dog legs. Nothing is painted on this image; everything is a separate plastic piece. The front and rear grille panels are real metal, as is the tiny Ferrari name in the rear. Excellent detail for the money. Take a good look at the tread on the realistic rubber tires. Gone are the plastic looking vinyl versions.

For the price, this F40 blows Kyosho or AutoArt out of the water, and at a lower price. That is how good it is.

FXX - Wow !

Ferrari FXX - Second Generation of the Enzo - 800 HP V12

New Ferrari Based on 1960 Ferrari

James Glickenhaus, a B-movie mogul turned Wall Street fund manager, has commissioned Pininfarina to build a one-off Ferrari inspired by the original Ferrari P3/4 racers from the late ’60s. The canvas for this crazy project will be the very last unspoiled 2003 Enzo in existence.

Glickenhaus has spilled the beans about his baby all over the internet, most notably on ferrarichat.com according to AutoWeek. It appears the car will debut at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance in August to compete in a new prototype class, although the owner hints it may crash a major auto show next season, as well. The G-man has spent nearly $4 million on his modern P4. Check out AutoWeek’s excellent article at the link for more details on the car and its backstory.

Proposed Rules For 2008

I think it's starting to get ridiculous. Max Mosely and the FIA are ruining Formula 1.

* Engine specification to be frozen from 2008-10 with designs having to be submitted to the FIA for homologation by 1 June 2006

* A single tyre supplier to be appointed for 2008-2010 following a tender process

* Slick tyres re-allowed

* A ban on all tyre-warming devices

* Testing restricted to a maximum of 30,000km (18,600 miles) per team per calendar year

* A ban on spare cars

* A weight penalty of 15kg if an engine is replaced before the end of its two-race cycle, replacing the current 10-place grid penalty system

* Gearboxes to last four races with a 15kg weight penalty for each change

* Drivers whose cars stop on the circuit during qualifying will not be allowed to take any further part in the session

* Requirement for new teams to lodge a $48 million deposit with the FIA dropped

* Major car manufacturers will be not be able to supply engines to more than two teams

Ferrari's Latest Creation

599 GTB - Underneath its purposeful skin, the 599 retains the same front engine V12 layout which the 550/575 Maranello line successfully reintroduced, and to make up for its longer chassis, the 599 uses a 6.0-liter engine engineered from the same engine found in the Enzo supercar! With it, the 599 is the most powerful front engine Ferrari! It does 0-60 in 3.6 seconds.
